On the 27th of May of 2013, CI2 held its first Symposium
at Hospital Prof. Doutor Fernando Fonseca (HFF).

With the special presence of Professor Don E. Detmer (AMIA),
the opening speech was given by Prof. Doutor Luis Marques (HFF), whose words were aimed mostly at the pertinence and importance of having a Research Center so interconnected with a large hospital such as HFF.

Afterwards, the attendees were granted with an enthralling presentation by Don Detmer on the role of Informatics and Innovation at the service of Health. By looking to what has been done during the past decade, the audience was left with what are the current tasks at hand on Health informatics as well as concerns on safety and privacy.

Following a short coffee break, a selection of CI2 projects was shown and demonstrated, enabling a healthy discussion on possible next steps regarding the synergies between HFF and CI2.
